Step 1: Gently Cleanse"The last thing you want to do is be rough," Jessica explains. "Don't bunch your hair up or scrub it really hard. Be gentle. If you're gentle with your hair, then you're smoothing the cuticle, and your hair won't be as frizzy."

Step 2: Lock In Moisture"Depending on how thick your hair is, or even how dry or tangled your hair might be, that affects how much conditioner you're going to want to use," Jessica says. Start with a quarter-size amount, and add more if necessary.
Detangle your hair after applying conditioner. "Take your detangling comb, start at the ends, and work your way up to the root, making sure not to bunch up the cuticle. You want to make sure that you're very gentle. Leave the conditioner in your hair for three minutes," Jason advises.

Step 3: Shield Against DamageAfter blotting your hair with a towel, apply a protective primer while your curls are still very wet. Jason says, "This is going to protect your curls from heat styling and also UV damage," which can rough up the cuticle and lead to frizz.

Step 4: Lock Out Humidity"The Heat & Humidity Gel creates a top coat and seals down the cuticle. This is going to be your final product," Jessica says.
Use the Ouidad Rake & Shake method to ensure you coat every strand. Then it's time to diffuse. "You want to direct the airflow from roots to ends, going down with the cuticle, so that you smooth the cuticle for maximum shine," Jason explains.
